Temple Baptist Church is a place where you will find open doors, open hearts and an open determination to true excellence in ministry. God is the one to whom we are eternally accountable. We meet to worship the Lord, to edify the saints, to teach the Bible, to reach the lost. Our church is open to you and we pray that you will feel right at home when you visit us.

Temple is a Special Place We Welcome You Here

The primary reason we meet together is to focus our attention on God, giving Him our worship and receiving His blessing and inspiration. Each of these occasions is a special time of spiritual refreshment.

A Place of Learning

To us, studying the Bible is vital because it not only instructs us intellectually, but also guides us spiritually. We believe it and accept it as God's Word to us, a book that is alive and relevant to life today.

A Place for Enrichment

For every person and every age level we offer a wealth of opportunities - special programmes and ministries for children, youth and adults which fill the church calendar. You can be sure that in this kaleidoscope of activities there's more than one place where you can be personally enriched.

A Place of Friendship

Nothing quite compares to the joy of Christian friendship. That's why we make it a priority to build lasting bonds between the members of our church family - bonds of concern and genuine commitment to one another. Best of all, this circle of care is ever-widening.

A Place of Service

Just as Jesus Christ came “not to be ministered unto, but to minister...” we accept our responsibility to reach out in service to others. This applies both within the church family and outside our fellowship including world missions.

Information About the Church and Pastor

Photograph of Tom Gritts

Temple Baptist Church was organised as an Independent (free) Baptist church in March 1993. The current property was purchased in February 1993, and the church met in rented accommodation until the building was renovated and then opened for our first service in June 1993.

Rev. T Gritts is the founding pastor. He is a graduate of Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, USA. He arrived in England in May 1983 as a missionary with the Baptist Bible Fellowship International. The church began in his home. He and his wife, Gail, have been married since 1973 and have five grown children.

We believe that a Baptist church is a congregation of baptized believers associated by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the gospel. We believe the true mission of the church is found in the Great Commission. (Matt 28: 19-20) First, to make individual disciples through salvation. Second, to build up the church. Third, to teach and instruct as He has commanded. We believe there is no greater stewardship entrusted to us as a church than the responsibility of teaching God's eternal Word.
