Prayer Letter - April 2005
Salvation
Since our last letter we are grateful to report to you of one more salvation.
One of our teen girls, Kimberly, had the opportunity to lead Sandra, one of her
friends, to the Lord. Sandra attends church every opportunity she gets to. Her
parents are not saved and need our prayers.
City accepts our offer
The city of Munsingen has accepted our offer for the property and the building.
This is an answer to prayer as the city originally asked for £ 230.000 ($
290.000 at the present exchange rate) and our offer was for £ 1500.00 ($
190.000). We could start renovating as early as this summer. This would get us
into the new building by late fall. Since our contract at the present location
is up by the end of the year, this would be perfect timing. Our next step is to
find a bank that will give us a loan without having any of our church members to
co sign. This seems to be the general procedure with German banks, but it
doesn't seem fair to ask church members houses to be at risk, when all we are
purchasing is the property. The city is giving to us the existing building for
free. Keep us 'm your prayers with this concern.
Baptists have a good name
Once a month, Sherri and I attend an English speaking group. We meet with
several Germans and international people for the purpose of conversing in
English. This has been a great opportunity to share what we believe about the
Bible. Last time a new lady attended. Her name is Heidi and she has just
recently returned from a one year trip to Australia. Without knowing that we
were Baptists, she told the group that she is Lutheran, but while 'm Australia,
she attended a Baptist Church. The reason why she continued to go to Baptist
Churches, she said, is "because they were so friendly". It is good to hear that
a lost person spoke so highly of Baptist churches, whereas so many Baptists
think we have such a bad name. We invited her to come and meet the people of our
friendly German Baptist Church. it is our prayer that she will respond to our
invitation.
