Perfect Peace

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." Isaiah 26: 3.

The mind that is stayed on Him. Jesus can give us perfect peace within our minds even though storms and trials may beset our lives; like when we are anxious. Jesus can make our minds at peace when we have trials. Remembering Jesus can give you peace when the world cannot give you peace.

The way in which a person gets this peace is to keep...

Jesus' Return (Posting by Frank)

Scripture references
Matthew 24: 36-42 & Luke 12: 40

Be alert always because the Son of Man will return in glory. No-one knows when it will be. The bible tells us that it will be like a thief who breaks in. People will be living like they always lived. Going on their daily business; getting married, just as people did in the days of Noah. It will be like this before Jesus's return. We must be prepared for His return at any time. It is important that we be...

Christmas Meal

The Christmas celebrations would not be complete without the church meal. This year it was held at The Penn Cottage just outside of the city centre. Over forty people attended and we had a visiting speaker from Colwyn Bay Baptist Church.

<img src="http://www.temple-baptist-church.co.uk/gallery/2003/meal_2_200.jpg" / float="left">

As you can see from the above photograph, Pastor Gritts enjoyed himself, especially when it came time to pull...

Sunday Service - 23 November 2003

It was a great blessing to be a part of Temple Baptist Church this morning. There were 67 people present in the morning service and we had visitors too.

Pastor Tom Gritts preached on the theme of teaching and said how each Christian is a teacher even though not every Christian is called to preach. All Christians can teach other people about the love of God by the lives that they live. The Pastor took 2 Timothy 2: 24 as his text which states, "And the servant of the...

Be Not Anxious - Posting by Frank

God gives us some good advice when he tells us, "...be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat and what ye shall drink. Nor for your body, what ye shall put on."

When we worry we do not trust God. We forget his goodness to us because worry causes us many problems like doubt or even illness. God tells us in His word, the Bible, that He knows what we need before we ask Him. We are also told that if He takes care of the birds, then how much more will...

Jesus is Real - Posting by Pauline

For many years I was unhappy. Nothing could hold my attention for very long, and for the past 2 years had been obsessed with my own death. It was uppermost in my mind from dawn to dusk: it was preferable to this existence. I just did not know who to turn to. Pills did not work, neither did mental health counselling.

Then this summer, for the first time I was able to travel overseas; twice. I was hopiing that the trip would provide some answers, but no. I suffered greatly from...

Salvation (Posting by Frank)

Man cannot earn his salvation, because it is a free gift of God (not of works lest any man should boast). We are not saved by works, because the moment we add works of any kind as a means of gaining salvation it is no longer by grace. If we could be saved by our good works, then Jesus died for nothing.

The bible tells us that He saved us from our past, present and future sins; it was not our good works that saved us, but His own mercy. God in His mercy sent His son Jesus to die...

This morning's sermon was given by our Assistant Pastor Ian Hutchings. He preached from Phillipians 4: 1 - 23.

Catalepsy - Posting from Frank

There are some who do not believe that Jesus died, they say that Jesus was in a state of catalepsy. A cataleptic looks like a dead person who has died because their breathing slows down and their heart stops for a time. The body also becomes rigid like that of a dead person, but the person is still alive and not dead. This is the state that some people say that Christ was in after the crucifixion and these people also believe that while Jesus was in the sepulcre He revived.

I do...
